**Position Description**

The Cultural Land-Based Coordinator plays a crucial role in bridging cultural heritage and implementing the traditional and land-based teachings into child development services. The Coordinator will facilitate the integration of traditional knowledge, cultural practices, and strategies to promote and preserve cultural heritage, and foster community engagement and utilizing the land when working with children, families and communities

Position Title: Cultural and Land Based Coordinator

Department: Development Services of Children and Youth

**Salary**: $ 55,000- 65,000 Per Annum

Term: Full time - 1 FTE

Location: Kenora -Fire-Fly Location

Reports to: Reports to: NBDS-Assessment Manager

**Summary of Duties**

Ø Develop and implement programs that promote the preservation and transmission of cultural knowledge related to the land

Ø Organize workshops, events, and educational materials to educate children and their families, and staff about traditional land-based practices and their cultural significance

Ø To provide traditional-based activities and services to individuals and groups; priority to service and support children, youth with developmental needs; acquire, maintain, and care for education tools/resources (e.g. language resources, history books, art, and traditional and sacred items)

Ø coordinate the delivery of traditional education; promote language restoration and facilitate transmission of cultural knowledge

Ø Connect with Elders and/or traditional knowledge resource people to conduct ceremonies; support the planning of traditional ceremony, including dancing, singing, drumming, community and/or seasonal celebrations/ feasts

Ø Sharing the traditional teachings of land, water and animals

Ø Coordinate land-based activities for children, youth and families based on their needs

**Qualifications**

Ø Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies and/or combination of equivalent and relevant education and experience

Ø Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated and related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community

Ø Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history

Ø Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

Ø Good organizational. administrative and report writing skills

Ø Ability to work within the established policies and procedures of the organization

Ø Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel when required

Ø Must possess current First Aid and CPR certificate or be willing to be certified

**Position Requirements**
