The science team at Vital is seeking a passionate and creative person to fill the role of Research Associate - Process Development (Biochemistry). We're looking for a teammate proficient in biochemistry, enzymes, and formulation, who is also knowledgeable about GMP manufacturing.

This is an entry-level position. You will report to Process Development Manager. This role will involve you participate in projects from the bench to develop and validate processes for producing the reagents that fuel our next-generation assays. We are constantly optimizing our lab to help push science forward at unprecedented rates. You will be expected and encouraged to actively contribute to our product development direction, and present novel procedural and scientific concepts that will positively impact all aspects of Vital's operations.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Work in a cross-disciplinary team with the goal of driving innovation of scalable processes related to the use of enzyme and other reagents
- Develop, optimize and validate new analytics to support our product pipeline
- Define, develop and validate manufacturing processes to support our product pipeline
- Planning and running experiments to support process development
- Author our standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve quality and accelerate our product pipeline
- Be actively involved in laboratory management
- Partner closely to provide manufacturing support to our research, assay development, lyophilization, and engineering teams to achieve performance requirements
- Streamline our development pipeline and cross-disciplinary integrations (formulation, stabilization, microfluidics, readout)
- Perform multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate effectively with peers and leadership to support decision-making, including summarizing results in reports and presentations
- Contribute to departmental strategies and provide input on lab requirements and improvements

**What you'll need**:

- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or related field with 0-3 years of hands-on experience in an industrial GMP setting
- Experience with analytical test development
- Expertise in the use of UV-vis and Fluorescence for quantitation of analytes from a complex mixture
- Experience with troubleshooting and development of test methods for quantification of a variety of clinical chemistry analytes (for example, comprehensive metabolic panel markers and lipid panel analytes), is highly desired
- Ability to communicate results and concepts clearly to fellow scientists
- A data analysis/statistics background
- Ability to handle a diverse workload
