The Opportunity

Our Corporate Communications Group is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver to the Business Unit Communications team, based in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manger of Business Unit Communications, we are seeking a well-rounded communications generalist who can manage end-to-end communications to communicate, engage and drive awareness of our projects and business to external audiences as well as our more than 7,000+ employees.

This position is a key member of the Team, and we need an energetic self-starter who is able to effectively collaborate across functions to drive communications strategies and tactics that protect and enhance reputation with key audiences, internally and externally. It is exciting, challenging work, solving real-world problems and making meaningful impacts.

What you will do
- Ensure successful project execution by developing and implementing fit-for-purpose communication plans to successfully navigate projects through pre-construction and construction to integration into Operations
- Manage and execute campaigns across multiple channels to position the Company’s narrative and increase brand awareness
- Support internal communications, which could include high profile customer events and employee town halls, presentations and speaking materials
- Build relationships and collaborate across business teams to ensure integration and alignment with our target audiences
- Provide coaching and mentorship to drive the team members towards collective success
- Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics and make data-driven decisions to improve and drive communications plans
- Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Media engagement and spokesperson duties as required
- Serve as a member of the on-call issues team

Minimum Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Education in a related field (i.e. communications, journalism, public relations, business, etc.)
- 6 years’ experience in communications, journalism, public affairs or community relations
- Demonstrated experience in issue and reputation management and crisis communications
- Proven experience in project management and project development
- Must have strong attention to detail for content quality control with an ability to produce high-quality products under intense deadline pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent use of prioritization and flexibility with changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree in a related field
- Experience in energy and/or a regulated industry environment- This position will involve travel and overnight stays away from home (estimated up to 30% of work schedule)
- Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours to respond to on-call issues (early morning, evening and weekend at times)
