The Newcomer Talent Attraction Specialist plays an integral role in the success of a newly anticipated Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership initiative, “Sarnia-Lambton Newcomer Community Connection Program”. (Note: This position is pending funding approval)

This position aims to attract and retain newcomer talent by actively promoting Sarnia-Lambton employment opportunities to newcomers and immigrants across Ontario.

The role provides support to jobseekers in Ontario by connecting them with resources and employment opportunities in Sarnia-Lambton.

Event planning will be critical in this role, through organizing events such community bus tours, information sessions, employment networking events, and diversity training workshops.

Direct support will be provided to newcomers in various ways such as but not limited to; assistance in job searching skills, connecting talent to local employment resources, interview preparation; establishing connections with job seekers and local employers, and hosting networking events and resources with international job seekers.

The objectives of the role are to secure employment opportunities with local employers and newcomers by strengthening workforce networks, promoting Lambton County as a great place to live and work, and providing employment services to job seekers.

This is position is a full-time contract role until approximately March 30, 2024.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct proactive outreach to newcomers across Ontario
- Provide direct service to newcomers to enhance networking & job searching techniques
- Develop a marketing campaign to promote the program to newcomers and connect with Lambton County employers
- Host interactive employer & talent events
- Raise awareness and promote the program throughout the community
- Empower job seekers who face high barriers of entry into the workforce to facilitate networking opportunities with employers
- Enhance partnerships with Sarnia-Lambton’s key stakeholders to improve the capacity of the community to respond to in-demand sectors and to strengthen the local talent pipeline

**Qualifications**:

- College diploma in human resources, business administrative, and/or related field
- Five or more years experience with employment consulting, recruitment, or human resources
- Proficiency with client case management and building exceptional relationships
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication (oral and written) skills to interact effectively with clients, target audiences, and the public are all essential
- Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines;
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle confidential and sensitive material with tact and diplomacy, exercise discretion and judgement at all times
- Considered an asset to have knowledge of federal immigrations programs
- Considered an asset to have a knowledge of barriers of entry job seeks face for into the workforce
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and use of a vehicle.
