The Underwriting Operations Specialist ensures the quality and accuracy of the underwriting and processing of the Crucible Operations Team. They are the expert in underwriting for the Crucible Commercial team and handle referrals, as well as deliver training specific to the Crucible Commercial team. They may participate in technical underwriting and processing conversations in conjunction with the Corporate Underwriting and Underwriting Operations team.

What will you do?
- Assesses risks and accepts, declines, or amends new business submissions, policy endorsements, renewals, underwriting files for Crucible.
- Leverages tools, resources, and reports to appropriately evaluate risks and make effective Underwriting decisions.
- Provide solutions on underwriting, appetite, or processing referrals.
- Respond to Crucible referrals that are within authority and in accordance with our published rates, underwriting guidelines, and operating model.
- Attend and facilitate training classes, calibration sessions, and team meetings in order to stay abreast of current procedures and business needs.
- Conduct quality evaluations, both verbal and written, for all Commercial Crucible team members based upon current practices and procedures established within the Crucible authority requirements, for new and existing employees.
- Responsible for ensuring Crucible self-audits are being performed and monitoring the results for trends to feed into training development.
- Support the development and updating of standard operating procedures as needed to support gaps identified through audit or to support any new processing initiatives or changes to the processing model
- Support the development of appropriate solutions for processing challenges and presenting the business case to Corporate Underwriting and Operations Center of Excellence.

What will you need?
- A certificate or diploma from a community college, preferably in insurance or business
- Undergraduate degree is preferred
- Required to have CIP
- Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial P&C underwriting
- Ability to travel occasionally to Barbados (only if needed by the business)
- Ability to identify process efficiencies and handle daily activities in a thorough fashion.
- Ability to learn multiple products quickly to support revenue growth.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and act quickly, demonstrating both time management skills and ability to achieve communicated deadlines.
