**Job Summary**

This position reports to and works in conjunction with the HSE Manager. Additionally, working closely with plant supervisors and plant workers promoting safe work procedures and making recommendations accordingly. Monitoring and auditing compliance with all Health and Safety policies & procedures and OHS acts and regulations. Work closely with supervisors to support and establish accountability. Work through Manager to provide direction to senior plant management.

**Job**Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with HSE Manager
- Daily activity is clearly defined with a specific focus on compliance.
- Operates with clear direction employing hazard assessment tools, & collaborative inspection techniques
- Work closely with supervisors & workers to support the growth of a health and safety culture of compliance and collaboration.

**Health and Safety Compliance 80%**
- Maintains presence in Brantford plant on the plant floor working with each department to achieve H & S compliance through continuous improvement.
- Assist identifying relevant health & safety training needs and opportunities. Develop/Source and implement Environmental, Health and Safety training as required.
- Review and have a good understanding of all SWP and SOP throughout each department within plant. Work with employees, supervisors, and department ME to update these as required.
- Provide guidance and support to Supervisors and workers at the Brantford plant, about safety related programs, policies, and procedures to ensure legislative and policy compliance.
- Complete monthly scorecard for each department highlighting gaps and compliance as it relates to pre-established KPI’s.
- Preparation of health and safety training reports as required.
- Follow up and review incidents with supervisors, support achievement of corrective actions, implement, and train employees on updated procedure.
- Assist supervisors in accident/incident/illness investigations.
- Advise supervisory/management of Health and Safety training requirements for all employees to ensure program and legislative compliance.
- Provide support and guidance to department supervisors to ensure compliance with relevant provincial environmental legislations including waste & hazardous waste management as well as emergency response/reporting protocols.
- Communicate policies and procedures to all stakeholders.
- Ensure weekly toolbox talks are being delivered by managers/supervisors.
- Act as a resource for Joint Health and Safety Committees and representatives in the plant to ensure legislative compliance to the program policies and Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
- Maintain health & safety control documentation.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with industrial sector OHSA standards and local legislation.
- Monitor health & safety systems and advise H&S Manager on system performance.
- Review gap analysis and look for opportunities to close and bring in line with applicable standards.
- Perform internal health & safety audits that are compliant with corporate policies, practices, and procedures.
- Oversee Contractor Management including site orientation, hazard analysis of work being completed. Conduct audits to maintain compliance.
- Ensure pre-qualification, monitor, and update approved contractor list ongoing basis.

**Other Tasks 20%**
- Promotes the well-being of employees in the workplace.
- Assist in developing health & safety improvement initiatives within Brantford Plant.
- Promotes and advocates health and safety performance improvement in the plant.
- Conduct employee training sessions as required IE. GHS refresher training.
- Respond to inquiries and address concerns of employees and supervisors relating to health and safety in their departments.
- Plays a leadership role to ensure a safe work environment.
- Acts as internal EHS consultant providing guidance and advice on a wide range of EHS topics.
- Identifies opportunities for additional programs and policies; makes recommendations. Assists with annual review of Safety Manual and/or Environmental Manual and ensuring recommendations for any required changes are properly evaluated and implemented.
- Communicates organization’s emergency plans and coordinates required drills.
- Back up support for HSE Manager in all areas of health and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Participates in new employee onboarding with a particular focus on H & S expectations and orientation assignment completion. (IE GHS, LOTO, Etc.)
