For over 70 years, John Ross & Sons have been a leader in the international metal market and the largest scrap metal recycling facility in Atlantic Canada. We are looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our dynamic and growing team in Halifax

Our Maintenence Supervisor's responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing and conducting preventative maintenance on all facility equipment and property.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Manage maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery and facilities, including conveyor systems, stationary baler and tool crib.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting and repair, and perform hands-on maintenance work.
- Provide mechanical expertise to reduce equipment downtime. Make recommendations for external maintenance contract work for repairs beyond the internal maintenance team's scope.
- Oversee external maintenance contractors as work is completed onsite.
- Orders spare or replacement parts and maintain inventory of incoming and existing components to meet production needs.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and records to track and maintain equipment status properly.
- Ensure equipment operators complete and submit Daily Equipment Inspection reports.
- Actively promote facility safety programs and procedures that follow company and regulatory requirements.
- Cross-train and provide ongoing training and development to yard employees and designated equipment operators.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
- Must be able to juggle different requests to develop priorities. This is a hands-on supervisor position.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant Trade School education or equivalent experience with mechanical or electrical engineering courses preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Experience working with heavy mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, and material separators.
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively.
- Able to work in all weather conditions (including extreme cold, heat, and inclimate weather.)
- CSA certified steel-toed footwear.
- PPE equipment will be provided.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions:

- Must be able to do the following movements during extended periods of time: Lifting, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, lying down, squatting and kneeling.
- Must be able to work both inside the warehouse and outside in all weather conditions (including extreme cold, heat, and inclimate weather)

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm; Saturday, 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. And on-call availability.
