Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Project Coordinator will support and administer a range of operating and capital projects related to City of Kenora facilities, ensuring that the projects are delivered to City, regulatory, and legislative standards. Duties could include developing tender packages or RFPs, project estimates and budgets, contractor coordination and project inspections, progress updates etc.,

The position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

**The Project Coordinator will**:

- Administer capital work projects by assembling specification and tender packages, preparing schedules, managing consultants and providing project management services.
- At the direction of the Facilities Manager, develop request for quotations, request for tenders and request for proposals including the development of scope, specifications and necessary contract documents.
- Complete drafting to update existing as-built drawings as projects are completed and to accompany specification packages during procurement.
- Oversee the construction of facilities projects, including providing technical support and guidance to ensure compliance with the accepted design, City policies and by-laws, and the management of associated financial securities.
- Communicate and liaison with stakeholders including City of Kenora Staff, User Groups, Contractors and other Team Members.
- Assist in the preparation of annual, and long-term budgets through the identification and prioritization of projects and associated costs.
- Coordinate and perform building condition assessments on a diverse range of new and existing buildings across all sectors including office, institutional, recreational, industrial etc., to evaluate present conditions, diagnose problems, improve sustainability and identify short and long-term repair and capital renewal needs.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology. Registered or ability to be registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Certified Technician with the Ontario Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
- Other related certifications such as a Project Management Professional, Engineering Intern or a Professional Engineering Designation is considered an asset.
- Experience and expertise in project management of facility construction projects may be considered in lieu of formal education, training or certifications.
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in project management, project scheduling, and contractor and client relations preferably in a municipal setting.
- Experience in drafting and its best practices through the use of AutoCAD or other Autodesk product is required.
- Must possess valid ‘G’ class driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations such as_, the Ontario Building Code and the Occupational Health & Safety Act Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities._
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated research, analytical, evaluation and problem-solving skills to identify needs and recommend solutions.
- Excellent numerical skills with demonstrated ability performing complex costing calculations, forecasting projections, and project budgeting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with external agencies, stakeholders and the general public.
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills with an ability to complete a high volume of work with accuracy and within prescribed deadlines in a fast pace environment with flexibility to changing priorities.
