Works a regular thirty-five [35] hours per week, Monday to Friday, 12 months per year

**Start date**: Immediately; End date: N/A

**Salary range**: $ 74,382 - $ 84,525 per year

**PREREQUISITES FOR POSITION**:
Successful completion of a university degree with concentration in Human Resources or Labour Relations or other related discipline, or an equivalent combination of related experience and training.

Completion of the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation preferred.

A minimum of four years professional Human Resources experience. School Board experience and working in a unionized environment is an asset.

Excellent abilities in a computerized environment utilizing the MS Office suite of tools and Human Resource Information Systems. Experience with electronic filing systems is an asset.

Excellent interpersonal skills exhibiting confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated strength in relationship building and promotion of a collaborative culture with the ability to function effectively with administrators, staff, trustees, outside agencies and others.

Excellent planning and organizational skills with significant experience in the effective management of multiple projects and demonstrated ability to successfully complete tasks.

Ability to work in a busy and high-pressure environment and prioritize and manage multiple assignments/projects with similar deadlines.

Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

**KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
Manage the employment program for specific employee groups including all aspects of the selection and consolidation process, job postings, vacancies, leaves, transfers, promotions, replacement coverage, performance appraisal (tracking), salary administration, job descriptions and job evaluation.

Advise supervisory personnel and employees on employment policies and procedures, Employment Standards, Education Act, Ontario College of Teachers Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Pay Equity and other applicable legislation.

Participate in the collective bargaining process. Maintain relevant records, research analyze and summarize information; assist in drafting Board proposals for negotiations; provide updates for negotiations and in-service appropriate staff on changes to Collective Agreements.

Participate in Step 1 and 2 Grievance meetings and prepare Board response.

Conduct workplace conduct investigations and advise Principals/Managers on all steps of the process.

Conduct workplace harassment and violence investigations, as required.

Participate in Arbitration process; collaborate with Board’s solicitor; attend arbitration hearings and provide resource material as required.

Assist Principals/Managers, Senior Administration and employees in problem-solving employee conflicts and performance difficulties; provide counsel regarding course of action in discipline matters and draft correspondence to employees on behalf of the Board in matters requiring disciplinary action.

Assist with development and implementation of human resources department and Board policies and procedures including disability management, attendance support, progressive discipline, hiring and criminal background checks which meet legislative and collective agreement compliance.

Participate as required in a variety of Human Resources related committees and special projects, including acting as a Human Resources representative on system and ad-hoc committees.

Responsible for the coordination of data collection and completion of various Ministry reports on an annual basis. This includes the analysis and validation of data, as well as acting as a resource to school personnel and others.

Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.

Perform other duties as assigned.
