**The Opportunity**
We have one casual position available for an Employment Specialist within the Employment with Supports program. Employment with Supports assists participants from a rapid employment perspective, to obtain and keep competitive employment of their choice. Individuals are supported to begin work as a priority, recognizing that employment is foundational to recovery. Our participants are job seekers who have struggled with employability due to mental health, substance use disorders, stigma, and discrimination, including racialized and gender-diverse populations.

**The Position**
The Employment Specialist is key to assisting participants in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals. The Employment Specialist works with participants to develop individualized employment plans and assists them with skill development and resource acquisition to help them meet their goals. The Employment Specialist functions within a team environment and works closely with referral sources, community partners, and employers.

This position falls within band 5 of the current collective agreement with an hourly rate ranging from $25.20 to $30.66. You will be paid for hours worked, as scheduled and approved by the Manager of Employment and Workplace Solutions. Work hours will not exceed a maximum of 35 hours total.

**The Qualifications**

REQURIED
- Three-year post-secondary degree in a human service-related discipline e.g., social work or psychology
- Two years in a community-based supported employment program
- Experience with community/network engagement and outreach
- Knowledge and experience around the principles and practices of health, including mental health, promotion, and harm reduction
- Proven aptitude for assisting, communicating, problem-solving, advocacy, and time management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Understands Confidentiality and Privacy Acts and Regulations
- Applicants must have a recent satisfactory criminal record check and both a child and adult abuse registry check
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

**PREFERRED**
- Demonstrated knowledge of Stages of Change and Motivational Interviewing
- One year experience providing presentation and facilitation skills along with the ability to tailor and present program information to public and professional audiences
- Knowledge and experience in Supported Employment, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, and Individual Placement Supports models of service
- One year experience job developing with employers to learn about their business needs and hiring preferences
- Recognition of complex factors and social determinants that contribute to barriers to inclusion
- Demonstrates competence in cultural safety and works effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
