Ottawa, Canada Hillel Lodge Long Term Care Home Full time

Reporting to the Director of Facility Operations, you will be responsible for the following duties within our **Long Term Care Home**:
**Facilities**:Maintenance**
- Maintain relationships with equipment contractors, technicians, and vendors
- Participate in planning of equipment repairs, upgrades & facility assessments with Environmental Services Manager
- Respond to and perform maintenance repairs on equipment and facility throughout the home
- Respond to building-related after-hours emergency calls from staffing, management, and other related to facility and equipment
- Organize and perform preventative maintenance scheduling, work order allocation, and PM completion
- Analyze for trends on equipment issues, repairs versus life cycle, and cost to replace with Environmental Services Manager
- Ensure NetFacilities software is updated with accurate work order activity, tracking i.e: open, in progress
- Monitor facility equipment/BAS system: HVAC/Boiler/Generator/Building/Water & Heating temperatures
- Maintain maximum sustainability of facility equipment through predictive and preventive maintenance
- Ensure building equipment istested for functionality as scheduled - re: Generator, Sump pumps, etc.
- Review internal Inspections of Facility equipment for accuracy and completion
- Troubleshoot system and equipment deficiencies and provide suggestions for maintenance and repairs
- Ensure completion of maintenance activities, routine safety inspections, and repairs
- Service as team lead on all large facility repairs and projects as discussed with Environmental Services Manager
- Ensure issues/concerns with call bell system, security systems, phone systems are addressed with Supervisor
- Support Supervisor with all facility and equipment documentation for budgeting purposes
- Provide support with reporting, such as Funding availability, EWRB (Energy, Water reporting & Benchmarking),
- Perform quality and assurance checks on maintenance work before, during, and after completion

**Back-Up**:
Team lead to laundry and housekeeping taff when Supervisor is away

**Other**:

- Participate in Health and Safety Committee meetings and inspections as required
- Other position-related tasks and/or requests as required to ensure the safety and welfare of all persons living and working within the Home.

**Experience & Education requirements**
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience within the same or similar role (_experience within Healthcare and/or Long-Term Care strongly preferred_)
- Diploma or Certification or a combination of experience and training in Building technician/Building Operations
- Experience using tools of the trade ie: power tools, electrical testers/meters, software programs,
- Strong troubleshooting, proactive and responsive skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
- Strong computer skills
- including quick learner using software or relevant programs
- Extensive experience with building systems & equipment
- HVAC, Boilers, Domestic Water system, plumbing, electrical (electrical technician)
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings
- Experience in performing audits and predictive measures on equipment
- Knowledge of best practices for the preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Patience and compassion in working with and around elderly and/or vulnerable populations.

**Licenses and/or professional accreditation**

Any of the following are considered an asset:

- Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution preferred
- Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC)
- Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA)
- Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT)
- Facilities Technician Certification
- Working towards a trade license, an asset
- Working towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1
