French Language Project Coordinator

**About**
Reception House is a non-profit, community-based organization that delivers quality settlement, integration and support services to government-assisted refugees (GARs) in Waterloo Region. Since 1987, Reception House has assisted thousands of refugees rebuild their lives in Canada through specialized programs and services designed to help them become established in their new communities.
We currently have an short term opportunity for a part-time French Language Project Coordinator on our Fundraising team. The French Language Project Coordinator will be responsible for the successful execution of the Bienvenue Project, an initiative focused on enhancing Reception House's capacity to serve French-speaking government-assisted refugees. The coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including French-speaking community members, partners like Collège Boreal, and advisory groups to ensure the delivery of culturally and linguistically appropriate services. This role requires a proactive and organized individual who is fluent in French and passionate about supporting refugee communities.
**What you’ll do**:
- Develop and manage the Bienvenue Project work plan, including timelines, activities, deliverables and evaluation.
- Oversee the day-to-day implementation of the project, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to the work plan.
- Facilitate collaboration with community partners, including French-speaking community organizations and advisory groups.
- Engage and collaborate with local French-speaking organizations and stakeholders to enhance services for refugees.
- Build partnerships with key community groups to promote the social, cultural, and economic integration of French-speaking refugees.
- Lead the review and adaptation of existing resources, translating and tailoring them to the specific needs of French-speaking refugee clients.
- Oversee the development of new resources as needed to support service delivery.
- Establish and coordinate an advisory group of community partners and experts to provide guidance on project activities.
- Organize regular meetings with the advisory group to gather feedback and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Foster partnerships with organizations like Collège Boréal to enhance assessment and language services for French-speaking refugees.
- Work with internal teams to ensure that staff are equipped to provide French-language services and address the needs of French-speaking clients.
- Monitor project progress and report on key metrics, ensuring that objectives and outcomes are achieved.
- Evaluate the project’s impact and effectiveness, preparing reports for funders and stakeholders.
**What you’ll need**:
- Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is required.
- Experience in program coordination or project management required, ideally in community services, non-profit, or refugee resettlement sectors.
- Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or other vulnerable populations is preferred.
- Knowledge of the refugee settlement process and services, including housing, employment, and language services.
- Familiarity with French-language community services and organizations in the Waterloo Region.
- Experience with resource development, including translation and cultural adaptation of materials.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines is required.
- Proven ability to engage with diverse community partners and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent writing skills in both English and French.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment, understanding the unique challenges faced by French-speaking refugees.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, fostering cooperation and collaboration among community partners, stakeholders, and internal staff.
- Innovative thinker with the ability to find solutions to complex challenges related to refugee resettlement and integration.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, lead projects independently and ensure progress toward successful outcomes.
**Working conditions**:
- Able to attend off-site events and meetings within Waterloo Region when needed, at times outside regular working hours.
- May have extended periods of time spent sitting, working on computer using mouse and keyboard.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a car is preferred.
