Position Overview
This full time, temporary summer position is a great opportunity to gain experience with the LIHS. Reporting to the Director of Residential Programs the Family Activities Worker delivers a range of engaging recreational and social activities that strengthens the wellbeing of the families we serve at LIHS Dol-Mar Manor and Emergency Shelter. As part of the Family Support Team, this individual will support the full range of services and activities of the Family Support Program, offering support and practical assistance to children, youth, and their mothers. As well, this individual will work to promote healthy, active living, social connection, and positive family interactions.
**Responsibilities**:
Supports families with their day-to-day routines, practical needs and provides childcare options for mothers. Engages children/youth, and women in activities that promotes strengths, interests, and the wellbeing of each individual. Organizes and facilitates recreational and social activities for individuals and families.
Experience and Competencies
- Must be 18-29 years of age per funding guidelines.
- Have experience with supporting vulnerable children/youth/families.
- Has a strong interest in children and youth; a positive, outgoing demeanor; the ability to develop warm, supportive relationships with children, youth, and women.
- Able to work effectively in a demanding, team environment, and strong problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s license, a minimum of 3 year’s driving experience and a clean driving record are also required.
