Learning Tree Academy is currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team for our daily operation. We aim to achieve the best possible foundation to inspire children for a lifetime of learning and achievement.

Learning Tree Academy’s Designate Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the center. They must provide leadership that is consistent with our philosophy. The childcare Designate is also responsible for program planning, working effectively with staff, working with families and children, connecting with the community, mentoring students, and various administrative responsibilities.

This person must be very well organized, self-motivated, patient, proactive, compassionate towards children, and must have excellent leadership skills.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Support Educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- Assist educators in keeping records
- Coordinating & Assisting in staff meetings to discuss student progress and staff concerns
- Coordinating and attending professional development activities, open houses, and parent-teacher interviews as required
- Assisting teachers in observing, monitoring, and assessing the pupils progress while discussing progress or concerns related to children with the teacher
- Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with various community partners
- Maintaining a healthy physical, emotional, and social environment conducive to learning
- Maintaining and completing developmental checklists as required
- Encouraging parental involvement through regular communications
- Assisting teachers in supervising the students at all program times
- Maintaining school upkeep including the organization of materials, classroom visual displays, bulletin/announcement boards, office area, kitchen, etc.
- Ensuring the safety and well being of children always
- Ensuring that all regulatory standards required by federal, provincial, and municipal governments are always being met
- Provide feedback and input to the educators
- Present a positive image of the childcare center to the public
- Accurately performs administrative tasks in a timely manner, for example, include payroll submissions, daily and weekly reports.
- Recruiting and selecting qualified staff in conjunction with the Director and overseeing staff development through continuous training, performance reviews and on-going leadership.
- Ensuring the center is ready for business with all necessary supplies and equipment such as arts and crafts, large furnishings, cleaning supplies, office equipment and children’s toys.
- Responsible for ensuring that all relevant legislative requirements are met with 100% compliance, including Children and Family Services/Daycare licensing, Public Health Department, Fire Department, Municipal by-laws, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labor Relations/Employment Standards, Freedom of Information and Privacy Act;
- Scheduling for business needs, supporting staff, opening, and closing procedures, ready for business standards and delegation and execution of duties.
- Other duties as required
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Supervisor/ Centre Director or Assistant Director in a childcare centre/ early learning program, managing a large team
- Working knowledge of the current Employment Standards Act, CCEYA, current Canada Food guide, How Does Learning Happen? and Public Health regulations regarding Child Care Centres
- Must have a valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Must have valid and up to date immunization record
- Must have valid Food Handler Certificate within two years of expiry (or willing to certify prior to employment)
- Criminal reference check for Vulnerable Sector (dated within 6 months)
- Excellent organization and multitasking skills
- Excellent relationship building skills with children
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Internet
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
