Yellowknife, Canada Taylor Architecture Group Full time

Taylor Architecture Group (TAG) is a Northern-based architecture and engineering firm with a focus on community design work, especially for First Nation and Inuit communities, throughout the Far North. Our head office is located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, with satellite offices in Whitehorse and Ottawa.

We have a position now available for a finance administrator in our Yellowknife office.

Yellowknife is a vibrant Northern city offering a one-of-a-kind lifestyle experience. As the Aurora Capital of the World, our small community has long been an international tourist destination offering unparalleled viewing experiences of the Northern Lights. Though the city itself is a dense and distinctly urban centre, we are bordered on all sides by wide open wilderness. Many Yellowknifers spend their weekends visiting off-grid cabins - accessed by cross-country ski trails or snowmobile in the winter, kayak and canoe in the summer. Evenings are spent “aurora hunting” at bonfires, cook-outs, or ski trails over the frozen Great Slave Lake. In summer, the Midnight Sun creates surreal conditions for a nighttime paddle between the eclectic houseboats in Yellowknife Bay.

For the adventurous professional, this town is an exciting place to work and play, offering unexpected fascinations. The community is open, welcoming, young, and diverse. Our thriving arts and design scene includes an annual summer music festival (Folk on the Rocks), a month-long winter festival (Snowking), two annual film festivals and a wide array of cultural events that fill almost every weekend of the year.

TAG’s projects are located predominantly in remote communities across the three territories. Our team members are invited into unique travel opportunities, often taking small aircraft to the breathtaking high arctic.

We are looking for a detail-oriented financial administrator to optimize our financial management procedures. You will be contributing to financial planning, preparing financial reports, and implementing best practices in financial administration.

To ensure success as a financial administrator, you should possess extensive knowledge of accounting principles and experience in a similar role. A top-notch financial administrator will be someone whose expertise translates into optimized financial processes and compliance with industry regulations.

Finance Administrator Responsibilities:

- Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting relevant financial data.
- Evaluating and optimizing financial controls and procedures.
- Updating daily transaction records and assisting with payroll administration.
- Assisting with the managing of accounts receivable and payable, as well as expenses.
- Assisting with the keeping records of invoices and tax payments, as well as reviewing and processing reimbursements.
- Assisting with the preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and budgets.
- Identifying financial liabilities and performing risk analysis on liquidity and cash flow.
- Resolving account discrepancies and performing account reconciliations.
- Assisting with the preparation of financial reports, including projected returns on investment and growth rates.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and best practices in financial administration.

Finance Administrator Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a similar field, or equal experience.
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a financial administrator, or similar.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software, Sage, Mosaic and Quick-books.
- In-depth knowledge of financial controls and accounting standards.
- Extensive experience in financial reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Superb organizational and time management abilities.
- Great collaboration and communication skills.

Salary and benefits to be commensurate with experience.
