Position Summary:
CONTEXT

The mission of the

McGill Office of Sustainability (MOOS)

is to create a culture of sustainability at McGill. We aim to identify, connect, and enhance efforts to incorporate principles of sustainability (environmental, social, and economic) into all areas of the University. MOOS provides the institutional memory and knowledge, the network of partnerships, the framework for sustainability at McGill

Climate & Sustainability Strategy

), and the seed funding

Sustainability Projects Fund

) to facilitate the sustainability efforts of students, faculty, and staff.

DUTIES
- Write weekly articles (news, features, profiles, etc.) about sustainability related news, projects, initiatives, and research happening at McGill.
- Coordinate, conduct, and transcribe interviews with relevant McGill community members to use in articles.
- Pitch article ideas that cover the topic of sustainability at McGill from different angles and engage students, staff, and faculty in sustainability efforts.
- Assist with the Office of Sustainability Twitter account and newsletter.
- Collaborate with the Social Media and Graphic Design Interns to develop visuals and social media content related to the articles.
- Work with the Communications team to advance sustainability communication goals.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Excellent writing, researching, and interviewing skills
- Ability to reliably produce high-quality work on time, with limited supervision
- Reliable, with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to keep track of, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks
- Interest in environmentalism and sustainability
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and groups at McGill is an asset
