**About the position**

The Purchasing Manager position is a highly visible supply chain role that is responsible for leading our purchasing team and overseeing the responsibility of forecasting, inventory planning and procurement across the supply chain network. This role is a key liaison with our suppliers, service providers and internal customers. You will identify ways to improve supply planning processes and be responsible for ensuring the teams accuracy of forecasting and planning to support the Sales, Customer Service, Transportation and Operations teams in meeting customer demand and branch performance objectives.

**What you’ll do**
- Establishes, tracks and communicates branch targets related to inventory and service performance
- Monitors level of supplier service and maintains working relationships with suppliers and their representatives
- Assists in root cause analysis for supply chain issues/variances to implement corrective/preventative action plans to avoid reoccurrence
- Works proactively with purchasing and sales teams to monitor and reduce underperforming inventory
- Assesses purchasing options and completes purchase approvals
- Establishes goals and strategies for improved forecast performance for the branch and works directly with the Forecaster and Sales team to review performance and opportunities for improvement
- Develops, mentors and trains purchasing personnel including a team of Supply Planners, Forecaster and Inventory Coordinator
- Works closely with other department managers to meet and exceed branch goals
- Hires, promotes, changes responsibilities of, evaluates and recommends salary increases for staff directly supervised

**What we would like from you**
- University degree or College Diploma with two (2) years of specialized training (PMAC, APICS, or related work experience) as well as four (4) years of experience in Supply Chain, two (2) in which must be in a supervisory capacity
- Must have strong leadership skills
- Must have the ability to analyze alternatives, use judgment and initiative in managing inventory
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be experienced with ERP - MRP systems
- Must be highly organized
