Dairy Bar Cook

**Status**: Part-time

**Mission**: To create an in-store experience that showcases the quality of our products that the Gay Lea Co-operative/ Hewitt’s Dairy is known for, through an exceptional customer experience that drives growth, enriches our community co-operatively and creates unique family-oriented memories.

**Purpose**:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Hewitt’s Dairy Bar, the cook will oversee and be responsible for the effective, efficient and safe operation of the Dairy Bar in the absence of the Supervisor. This position will be responsible for working collaboratively with your supervisor and dairy bar staff for the success of the business and customers. You have a safety-first mentality, understand the value of working as part of a team, and enjoy the challenge of a high-demand role.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Serve customers with excellent customer service
- Work closely with the staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMP’s and other necessary quality-related training.
- Work towards Process Excellence endeavors of the organization.
- Work closely with the team members.
- Maintain Food Safety and Health & Safety policies, proactive approach to prevent accidents in the Dairy bar.
- General kitchen duties including food pre-plan, prep, cook, service and clean-up
- Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory of food and supplies, ensuring proper storage
- Cleaning of kitchen area
- Able to use kitchen equipment safely; operate electrical and mechanical equipment such as a slicer and fryer
- Provide flexible shift coverage & work overtime hours when required and weekend coverage on a rotational basis.
- Decision making in the absence of the supervisor
- Other Projects as assigned by management.
- Dairy Bar Associate job responsibilities

**Tasks Include**:

- Received orders from counter staff
- Prepare food and plate for presentation
- Associate job tasks

**Qualifications**:

- Ability to establish priorities and meet firm deadlines
- Experience with retail and customer service
- Cooking and food service experience required
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Food Handler certificate required
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and customer-focused skills
- Ability to lift heavy articles consistently throughout the shift
- Professional Cooking certificate an asset

**Working Environment**:
Primarily dairy bar & kitchen in nature with regular interruptions and deadlines.

**Physical Demands**:
Sitting, walking, standing and repetitive movements for a considerable length of time. Some exposure to cold temperatures within the fridge and freezer
