**Overview**

**Purpose**

Reporting to the Quality Manager, Quality Technicians assist the production and quality teams to address daily quality concerns so Meridian may meet customer expectations, bridging the gap between the Quality Engineers and production personnel.

**Responsibilities**
- Quality Alerts: Issue all internal quality alerts, deviations and initiate problem logs in PLEX, and be a back-up for Quality Engineers if needed to generate any for external issues.
- Audits/Sorts: Ensure all sorts get done as per procedure and upload sort results in PLEX. Perform spot audits to ensure parts meet customer requirements, also review off-shifts quality checks to ensure compliance. Complete Layered Process Audits as required. Ensuring shop floor ownership of quality systems remains intact through audits.
- Quality Issues: Participate and follow-up on resolving quality issues at the operations meetings. Assist Quality Engineer when needed to update work instructions and ensure all printed documentation (if needed) is to the latest revision.
- Reports/Administration: Ensure all run charts are maintained by production personnel as required. Support sample runs as required. Ensure all material on hold (Q Cage and warehouse) is dealt with in a timely manner.
- First off/Last off: Ensure all first off parts meet customer requirements Support last off meetings to ensure problems get communicated to tooling personnel and issues fixed.
- Training: Provide training to operators on a as required basis on: Work instructions, quality PLEX checks, boundary samples, quality standards, and proper use of gauges.
- Problem-Solving: Collect parts for problem solving, GRR, PPAP, and PTR lots as required by Quality Engineers. Ensuring that the system for receiving inspection of materials and components is properly followed. Ensuring proper reaction is taken on any out of spec. situations and that all procedures are followed (Production is accountable but QT can assist in resolution). Assisting in identifying quality problems and developing corrective action plans
- Communication/Teamwork: Actively on the floor assisting operators with various issues concerning quality. Maintain the communication flow at all times between production and quality teams.
- Be on call for other shifts if the need arises, including weekends when designated
- Other responsibilities as required, including special projects as they arise.

**Skills/Experience/Education**
- Should have, or be in pursuit of ASQ Quality Technician Certification
- Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Engineering or Quality Assurance is highly desirable
- At least 3 years’ progressive experience in a quality-oriented role
- Strong technical and data analysis aptitude
- Ability to use multiple types of gauges and measuring equipment
- Good communication, time management, and team problem solving skills
- Able to work independently and as part of the plant team
- Be able to recognize quality systems within a manufacturing sector
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Familiar with the OH&S Act and Regulations
- Knowledge of company policies & procedures
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
