**Duties**:
Develops and manages a specialized ecosystem based natural resource management program (wildlife management) within the Lake Louise/Yoho/Kootenay or Banff field unit. Provides specialist applied science leadership, advice and strategic input involving complex, multi-jurisdictional and competing ecological and partner and stakeholder interests or issues.

EDUCATION
- Graduation from a recognized university with a graduate degree (i.e., M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in ecology, biology or other environmental science relevant to the position.
Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE
- Significant* experience in leading the planning and development of project work plans, allocating resources and implementing projects in the specialized area of wildlife management;
- Significant* experience in collecting, organizing, summarizing and analyzing scientific information from diverse sources and producing scientific reports;
- Significant* experience in providing written and oral science-based advice to support decision-making in specialized areas;
- Experience in supervision;
- Experience in the specialized area of operational human-wildlife conflict management or an active management program involving large mammals.
- Significant experience is defined as three or more years of experience acquired while occupying a position where this criterion is a primary responsibility.

- Knowledge of ecosystem management issues, active management challenges and/or partnership opportunities related to specialized resource conservation management;
- Knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis;
- Knowledge of the science of wildlife management and human-wildlife coexistence principles, challenges and opportunities related to resource conservation management in the Rocky Mountain ecosystem.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
- Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation;
- Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
- Will be required to undergo, pass and maintain the Canadian Firearm Safety Course, a valid Possession and Acquisitions License (P.A.L.) for non-restricted firearms, and maintain the Parks Canada long-arms certification;
- Will be required to undergo, pass and maintain Advanced Wilderness First Aid (40 hr or equivalent) and CPR certificate.
