The Centre for Newcomers (CFN) is an Alberta leader in providing a variety of settlement, language training and employment readiness services to newcomers. Our mission is to support newcomers and the receiving community in becoming a diverse, united community, through services and initiatives that create conditions of success for newcomers and that foster a welcoming environment in Calgary.

**Job Purpose**

The Role: The Fund development Associate will be responsible for assisting the implementation of CFN’s fund development plan and will assist in managing all donor relations. Ensuring quality and professional relationship with our stakeholders is at the heart of this position. The position will play a pivotal role in leading efforts to engage, educate and create opportunities for corporate, government and institutional engagement on issues of newcomers through monetary and material donations, supporting the cause/mission of the organization and influencing policies and narratives that support integration.

**Specific Responsibilities**

In consultation with, and as directed by the Director and in consultation with the VP, Strategy, the Associate will:

- **Fund Development**: Develop a work plan to fully implement existing fund development strategy.
- **Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), and Social Impact**:Work with select corporations whose CSR, ESG, and social impact goals align with the Centre for Newcomers’ mission to advance mutually beneficial opportunities for building cohesive communities.
- **Special Projects**:engage with projects with institutions and corporations
- Prepare activity reports, provide updates and presentations for stakeholders
- Track, monitor, evaluate and report on progress and impact of engagement activities with stakeholders, funders, and other partners.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Fund Development

**Qualifications & Requirements**
- **Vision-oriented/focused**: demonstrated commitment and ability to forging relevant partnerships and working collaboratively to exceed expectations. Should be culturally and politically grounded. Knowledge and understanding of policy are a great asset
- **Education**: University Degree in a related field Social Work, Education, Psychology)
- **Experience/Result-oriented**: Demonstrates focus on completing all tasks/projects in timely and effective manner; experience working effectively with different stakeholders: government, private businesses, communities, institutions; excellent organization, analytical, planning and management skills.
- **Communication/Government/media relations**:adapts communication to suit different audiences. Nuanced understanding of foundation, non-profit, corporate, government and media relations.
- **Technical**: Excellent computer, internet skills; competence in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- **Conflict Resolution and Facilitation Skills**:applicants are experienced in participatory approaches conflict management and resolution and are confident and comfortable in managing exchanges where conflicting community issues arise.
- **Commitment to Social Change**:applicants are ready, willing and able to engage in community-wide activities and efforts that focus on changing understanding of communities, groups.

**Working conditions**
- Involves travel within the city
- Able to work nights and weekends when required
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5 months
Part-time hours: 18.75 per week
