Volunteer Treasurer

Food Matters Manitoba is seeking a Treasurer from Winnipeg to join its volunteer Board of Directors.

**ABOUT FOOD MATTERS MANITOBA**

Food Matters Manitoba (FMM) is a Winnipeg-based charitable organization working to improve food security across the province, with a strong focus on northern communities. FMM works in partnership with various northern communities to harvest wild foods and redistribute food among members; support community gardening and livestock endeavors to enhance local food systems; invest in youth programming to build hope and capacity; and promote knowledge transfer through intergenerational mentorship and experiential learning. FMM's work is vitally important to combat growing food insecurity, improve individual and community well-being, and restore Indigenous food sovereignty in Manitoba.

**TITLE: TREASURER**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Responsible, with the Executive Director, for the direction and policy for financial matters pertaining to FMM.

2. Responsible for developing and delivering financial reports for FMM board meetings (every 2 months.)

3. Responsible for overseeing the implementation of annual audits for FMM and presents the audited financial statement at the Annual General Meeting of the Corporation.

4. Providing financial leadership and minimize fiduciary risk to FMM by heading the Financial Committee, reviewing financial statements and monitoring financial activities of FMM.
- 5. Approving e-transfers and signing cheques, as needed, for the organization._

6. Signs all official documents as required

**TERM**:
The term will be for 3 years.

**TIME COMMITMENT**:
1. Preparing for and attendance at:
6 bi-monthly board meetings each year (held on the third Tuesday of the months Feb, April, June, August, Oct and Dec from 5-7 pm)

2. Schedule and lead the Financial Committee meetings monthly to review finances with Executive Director ensuring for financial prudence throughout the organization

3. Occasional availability as needed for: e.g. discussions with the FMM Executive Committee, signing other documents, etc.
