**Opportunity**
- The housing worker is part of the Surrey Youth Housing team and provides 1-1 case management and support to diverse youth residing in within PCRS run homes, community homes as well as supports youth with housing search in the community. Staff help develop personal plans, provide life skills, and support group activities such as house meetings and outings. This position involves developing relationships with youth as well as liaising with professionals such as social workers, school personnel, and community staff.

Workers may also provide moving assistance, property owner advocacy, and mediation.

Core hours of work: 10am to 6pm. This position requires a flexible schedule that may include early mornings or evenings as late as 11pm occasional weekends.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide individualized housing supports to vulnerable youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Surrey area.
- Develop supportive and engaging relationships with youth, developing individualized service plans in consultation with youth participants.
- Assist youth in maintaining program expectations such as attending house meetings, maintaining house cleanliness, supporting participants to attend school, work, or volunteer opportunities, and maintaining connection with their other support workers.
- Maintain accurate case notes, monitoring youth progress, engagement, and participation in the program.
- Other duties such as moving support, collection of rent, and other administrative tasks may be required.
- Participate and engage in a collaborative and effective staff team.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff and participate in team efforts.
- Participate in professional development and training.

**Qualifications**
- B.A. in a related field plus one-year related outreach experience, or a Child and Youth Care Diploma plus two years’ experience, OR a combination of education and related experience working with vulnerable youth.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
- Valid BC driver’s license with Business insurance use and use of own vehicle
- Driver’s abstract must be submitted.

**Additional Assets**
- Sound understanding of tenant and property owner rights.
- Sound understanding of housing related documentation.
- A thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation.
- Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using agency protocols and ethics.
- Effective team collaboration skills.
- Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities.
- Work collaboratively with various stakeholders, such as government, families, related organizations, community organizations and service providers.
- Meet with youth to identify their specific needs, goals, care planning, and passions as well as support their emotional wellness, physical health and a powerful sense of identity and belonging.
