**Project Manager, Development Approvals**

The incumbent is primarily responsible for managing the distribution and quality of work related to the

matters, and managing the approval process related to the installation of all utilities within the City’s

road allowances. The incumbent will undertake technical analysis in order to review and evaluate the

compilation of comments on development engineering documents associated with Draft Plans of

Subdivision, Site Plans, Land Severances, Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments,

Committee of Adjustment and all other Planning review processes and compliance requests. This is

accomplished through the effective management of a skilled team of Coordinators, Technicians,

Consulting Engineers and Contractors. Presenting results in written and verbal form to staff, elected

officials, and the public is an integral part of this position. The incumbent also provides supervision to

the Coordinator, Development Approvals and Technician, Development Approvals.

**Successful applicants will possess the following**:

- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, or a related

discipline.
- Member in good standing of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or Ontario Association

of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
- Municipal Engineering Association courses/certificates related to the position such as road design,

sewer design, or stormwater management would be an asset.
- Seven years of progressively more responsible experience in municipal land development and

servicing, and engineering design and construction related to subdivision and site plan
development, to include at least one year in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated experience working with the municipal sector and understanding of the municipal
- Sound organizational, analytical, problem solving, project management, presentation,

business/technical writing and customer service skills.
- Proven motivational, leadership, interpersonal, team building and conflict resolution skills.
- Above average communications skills, including the ability to express thoughts clearly and

concisely both verbally and in writing.
- In depth knowledge of current municipal design, construction practices and methodologies and

provincial, regional and municipal standards.

- Ability to understand and interpret engineering plans and legal agreements.
- Ability to work independently under minimum supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with consultants, employees,

elected officials, agencies and members of the public.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and Windows based computer
- Must be willing to be trained and certified in the Corporation’s confined space entry procedure,

Standard First Aid, Basic Rescuer CPR-C and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest.
- Must have a personal vehicle for use in the performance of duties and possess a valid Class “G”

Ontario Driver’s Licence. Must provide consent to conduct regular Driver’s Abstracts through the
Ministry of Transportation. A clean driving record is preferred.
- Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
- Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment_._

Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan, and an annual salary
range starting at $95,463.41 based on 35 hour work week.
