Youth Worker

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Demonstrated ability to lead groups of youth
- Knowledge of adolescent development and family systems approaches
- Knowledge of theories of substance use, including Motivational Interviewing, Continuum of Care, Stages of Change, Harm Reduction, Biopsychosocial Spiritual Model
- Experience in working with youth who use substances, experience homelessness, or are involved with the justice system or MCFD
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Has the acceptance of clients’ rights to self-determination and individuality and must not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, language, religion, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, age, abilities, socio-economic status, political affiliations, or national ancestry
- Holds a positive conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change the ability to work respectfully in partnership with other team members, including referring authorities

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Health, Social Work or Child and Youth Care from an accredited university
- Diploma Social Work or Child and Youth Care from an accredited university and relevant combination of experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with high-risk youth or outreach settings
- Group Facilitation experience preferred
- Use of reliable vehicle and valid BC driver's license required for this role
- A criminal record check that passes the Criminal Records Review Act is mandatory
- Level 1 First Aid and CPR
- Vaccination for Covid 19 required

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 10-20 per week

**Salary**: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
