The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national exchange program offering opportunities for youth to improve their second official language skills (English/French) while gaining important employment experience. Participants, 16 and 17 years of age, travel to another community within Canada - where the other official language predominates - for 6 weeks during the summer. Youth are provided with a homestay and paid employment to deepen the cultural exchange through immersion. They participate in weekly program activities organized by the Local Coordinator in their new community.

The Regional Coordinator will be an important member of the national team delivering this program by ensuring regional participant targets through the development of an effective outreach plan. Each year, the Regional Coordinator will hire, orient, train and supervise Local Coordinators that will directly support exchange participants in their host communities, and Support Coordinators who will act as team leads. Through the Local Coordinators, the Regional Coordinator will ensure that youth are also provided with an appropriate summer work placement.

The Regional Coordinator is responsible to manage and maintain third party relationships with local employers and local support organizations. The Regional Coordinator promotes YMCA programs to the community, employers, and other individuals and organizations to assist the YMCA in achieving program and strategic outcomes.

Les participants, âgés de 16 ou 17 ans, vont séjourner dans une autre collectivité du Canada - où l’autre langue officielle prédomine - pendant six semaines au cours de l’été. Les jeunes sont hébergés chez une famille et exercent un emploi rémunéré pour approfondir cet échange culturel par l’immersion. Ils participent également à un programme d’activités hebdomadaires organisées par le coordonnateur local ou la coordonnatrice locale de leur nouvelle communauté.

Le coordonnateur régional ou la coordonnatrice régionale, un membre important de l’équipe nationale chargée de la prestation de ce programme, élaborera un plan de rayonnement efficace afin d’atteindre les cibles de participation régionales. Chaque année, le coordonnateur régional ou la coordonnatrice régionale embauchera, orientera, formera et supervisera les coordonnateurs locaux qui soutiendront directement les participants à l’échange dans leurs communautés d’accueil et les coordonnateurs de soutien qui joueront le rôle de chef d’équipe. Par l’intermédiaire des coordonnateurs locaux, le coordonnateur régional ou la coordonnatrice régionale veillera également à ce que les jeunes reçoivent un placement professionnel estival adéquat.

Il incombe au coordonnateur régional ou à la coordonnatrice régionale de gérer et d’entretenir les relations avec les tiers, à savoir les employeurs locaux et autres intervenants. Le coordonnateur régional ou la coordonnatrice régionale promouvra les programmes du YMCA à la communauté, aux employeurs et aux autres particuliers et organismes pour aider le YMCA à obtenir ses résultats stratégiques et ceux de son programme.

**In this role, you will**:

- Promotion and outreach - Develop and implement a regional promotion and communication plan to achieve provincial youth recruitment targets representative of the demographics of Canada.
- Staffing - Hire, orient, train, support and supervise an effective staff team of Local Coordinators who will directly support participants in their host communities, and Support Coordinators who will act as team leads.
- Program delivery - Provide service to participants, hosts/families, employers and the general public in both official languages. Effectively problem-solve issues resolve conflicts as they arise, and keep the Manager informed.
- Financial management - Follow financial systems and maintain financial reports in line with YMCA policies and procedures. Ensure timely and accurate submission of invoices, expense forms and statistics to both the local and national offices.
