**The Position**

Successful applicants can be located anywhere in Canada, and have experience working for non-profits, advocacy organizations, federal or provincial political office and/or political campaigns, advertising agencies, public affairs consultancies, unions, or political parties. CAEH is a non-partisan organization.

- The salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000 annually (plus benefits) and will be based on experience.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Lead and grow the small-but-mighty communications team.
- Champion the development and implementation of CAEH’s external communications across all channels, working with the Director, CEO, Program Leads and communications team.
- Develop and implement strategies to support CAEH’s advocacy campaign objectives.
- Help build the movement to end homelessness by supporting the team to develop integrated online advocacy campaigns, in support of CAEH’s policy and strategic priorities.
- Oversee the production of newsletters and social media, reaching sector and public audiences, in-line with CAEH’s objectives.
- Develop and manage an ongoing paid media program, focused on building CAEH’s community and impact.
- Handle media relations, including monitoring media coverage of homelessness and CAEH, proactively pitching media stories and handling incoming media requests.
- Support communications in service of the annual conference and CAEH’s other events, to continuously improve attendee experience.
- Provide training and coaching to community partners on communications strategy and implementation, with a view to developing an in-house communications consultancy.
- Identify opportunities for partnerships, coalitions, and advocacy campaigns to influence public policy and promote innovative solutions to homelessness.
- Act as a media spokesperson for CAEH from time-to-time.
- Support the Director of Marketing and Communications on the development of the Alliance’s non-partisan Political Advocacy Strategy and Campaigns.
- Communicate with CAEH stakeholders on homelessness and housing public policy, programs, government announcements and advocacy results.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align communications efforts with organizational priorities and programs, including the BFZ-C movement, and Technical and Training Assistance revenue generation opportunities.

**Qualifications**
- Passion for ending homelessness, a belief it's possible, and a sense of urgency to get there.
- University degree in a relevant field of study, such as Communications, Political Science, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or equivalent post-secondary education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in communications and political/advocacy campaigns to advance an important cause.
- Deep understanding of Public Narrative and persuasive writing/content.
- Strong attention to detail and editing skills, with an understanding of creative processes and visual design.
- Experience developing and implementing political strategies, including a strong political risk and opportunity radar, able to anticipate and mitigate risk early.
- Understanding of federal and provincial government legislative, regulatory and public processes, and public policy frameworks.
- Experience leading integrated multi-channel advocacy/political campaigns is required. A knowledge of video and ad production processes is highly desired.
- Experience working in advertising agencies or public affairs consultancies is highly desired.
- Demonstrated ability leading teams in an outcome focused environment through coaching to enhance employee learning, performance, and development.
- Demonstrated ability to use computer systems and software including Microsoft Office Products and digital advocacy tools.
- High level of expertise in digital advocacy tools, including NationBuilder and New/Mode.
- Knowledge of housing policy and homelessness is considered an asset.
- Bilingual is preferred (French & English), but not essential.
- Willingness to embrace and actively support the unique culture and values of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness.
- Ability to travel domestically, as required.
