Technology Planner

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Technology Planner leads the planning practice for the Digital, Technology and Security (DT&S) division. The role works with various stakeholders to develop consolidated roadmaps and plans for all technology solutions in the organization. Through collaboration and planning, this role ensures that technology continues to enable the business, while managing risk and costs.

Position Details

Key Accountabilities
- Develop, implement and evolve technology strategies to meet the Corporation’s objectives by synchronizing corporate and divisional strategies with overall information technology plans.
- Lead and facilitate workshops and other engagement sessions to understand and define business needs.
- Engage in the development of business and technology (Engineering, IT, and Operations) strategies and coordination of corporate planning processes to deliver them.
- Drive technology leadership and facilitate governance to ensure appropriate prioritization of technology spend.
- Accountable to build and maintain information technology roadmaps for various technologies.
- Responsible to stay current on technology trends among the oil and gas industry to guide technology recommendations and planning.
- Coordinate vendor management activities (e.g., demos, quotes, RFP's, and contracts).
- Rationalize existing IT technology and optimize capacity and spend.
- Evaluate the organization's technology use and needs and recommend improvements, such as hardware and software upgrades.
- Develop and maintain IT budgets and coordinate and track funding for technology investments and benefits realization.
- Lead the development of information sessions and materials to educate business partners about the service offerings within the Business Process group.
- Define technology standards and ensure that the organization understands the importance of technology standards and the risks of non-compliance.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- Eight (8) years of experience in IT, with an understanding of technology planning.
- Knowledge of cloud providers, platforms and costing is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of technology principles, technology architecture and business processes.
- Strategic thinking skills and the ability to understand corporate priorities and which actions will drive the most value.
- Ability to build relationships, work collaboratively and resolve problems with people at all levels in the organization.
- Skilled in negotiation and articulating recommendations to influence stakeholders.
- Expert written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to grasp complex technical concepts and synthesize them into clear and meaningful communications for the target audience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business matters and can translate technical considerations into business implications.
- Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated competence with change management, business operations and technical leadership in delivering technology-based solutions and services.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
- A suitable combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.

Additional Information
- Travel away from bid headquarters may be required on occasion.
- A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
