**Position**: Banquet Setup (non—unionized)

**Status: 1 x Full Time and 1 xPart Time / for weekdays/weekends, evenings. Must be flexible**

**Responsible to**: Banquet and Event Manager, Banquet Captains

**Job Overview**

The purpose of this position is to ensure that all set-ups are correct and complete according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Setting up rooms for future events includes includes moving and placing tables, chairs, dance floors and other items, as well as setting up any food and beverage stations and keeping facilities in an organized, clean, and safe environment. Setup staff must wear their uniforms at all times, and assist with all client requests when possible.

**General Responsibilities**

Ø Check in with Banquet Captains to determine room assignments for your shift as well as any special instructions regarding rooms or alternative tasks that may need to be completed.

Ø Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) at the beginning of each shift to ensure proper set up of tables and meeting area as per the Banquet Event Orders.

Ø Assist in ensuring that the events are on time. Make adjustments as needed and relay that information to the appropriate personnel.

Ø Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the catering department.

Ø If no upcoming events, please leave rooms in a clean state for any possible site inspections. Ensure that meeting rooms are re-set for next event contract if it is within two or three days of previous event.

Ø Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.

Ø Greet all guests and event planners warmly with an appropriate greeting.

Ø Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.

Ø Understands and can communicate products and services available at OCEC and both hotels if applicable.

Ø Maintain clear and open communication between all staff members for overall event success

Ø Ensure all banquet rooms and storage areas are clean at all times and kept in proper condition according to company standards.

Ø Follow Health and Safety practices at all times.

Ø Always works in a quiet, orderly fashion so as not to disturb meetings that are in progress.

Ø Performs any other duties as required by management to ensure customer service, and/or works with and assists other departments as required in special situations.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Frequent walking with some standing at times
- Will walk for long periods of time and cover extended distances
- Frequently lifts/carries up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally lifts/carries up to 100 lbs
- Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual

dexterity and fine motor skills
- Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel, bending at the waist and stooping repeatedly
- Will be required to work outdoors or move equipment outside for storage

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 16-40 per week

**Salary**: $20.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON K1K 4S3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:
