**Job Summary**
The Maintenance Technician, under the direction of the Manager, Facilities, will primarily be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Toronto Humane Society equipment and machinery. This position will ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency. This role will also adhere to company policies and standards for safety and quality.

**Main Duties/Responsibilities**
- Perform and ensure the completion of preventative maintenance on Toronto Humane Society vehicles
- Maintenance and completion of vehicle logs
- Perform and ensure the completion of preventative maintenance on Toronto Humane Society mobile and stationary mechanical equipment, including but not limited to; Floor Scrubber, Floor Buffer, dishwashers, laundry equipment
- Seasonal, Annual and otherwise routine start-up and shut down of facilities service equipment
- Attend to plumbing and HVAC concerns
- Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
- Assist with jobsite administration duties, such as completion of any logs that need to be maintained
- Perform maintenance and safety checks on all equipment and tools
- Equipment installation
- Performance and completion of construction, retrofitting and renovation projects of the Toronto Humane Society, to include but not limited to; framing, basic plumbing, drywall, tile, floor sealing
- Assist with parking enforcement
- Grounds maintenance
- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
- Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and in-service training to further education, skills, and training.
- Be aware of and work within the regulations of all THS policies and protocols
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA and its regulations including understanding and adhering to the requirements of the Health and Safety Manual and any other rules and regulations established by THS
- Completion of the work duties of a Maintenance Worker when required
- Work cooperatively with all volunteers and recognize the talent and commitment they bring to the Society
- Other Duties as required in the day-to-day operation of the Society

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ maintenance technician experience or equivalent
- Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field an asset
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Forklift operator's licence an asset
- Valid G Driver's license and a clean abstract
- Ability to work at heights and pass work at heights training
- Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labour
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- High standards of workmanship and efficiency

**Work Conditions**
- Flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Occasional overtime
- Attendance and participation in training
- Operation of cleaning and maintenance equipment
- May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy to moderately heavy objects and materials and some combination of climbing and balancing to include stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, weather, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, animal bites, disease, pathogenic substances, or rude/irate customers

Pay Rate: $21.18/ Hour
