**The opportunity**:
Under supervision from a designated Assistant Manager, the incumbent is responsible, as a group leader, to ensure the maintenance of buildings, grounds, parking lots, and sports facilities, provision of cleaning services, moving and set-ups, coordination and assignment of work, assisting with the training of staff, controlling equipment and materials, assisting in the work as necessary and maintaining related records. These positions require coverage on a three shift basis: day, afternoon and night, and may involve an assignment to work any of the three shifts.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Completion of grade 12 or equivalent required.
- Upgrading or formal certification pertaining to both general caretaking operations and special operations such as Icemaker Refrigeration plant operator and/or Swimming Pool Operator required.
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- Minimum three years significant practical or position related experience required.
- Directly related experience including coordination, training and directing caretaking staff in a recreational facility preferred.
- Able to operate all vehicles and equipment used.
- Able to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
- Able to maintain accurate records.
- Able to communicate effectively in English (both verbal and written) and to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Able to communicate and understand the needs of staff, students, departments, organizers of functions and the public.
- Must have excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Must have excellent knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in providing services.
- Able to successfully complete established job-related training programs (e.g., Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS), etc).
- Willing to work any of day, afternoon or night shift.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties as assigned.
- Must be able to pass required FIT assessment and related safety training. Must be able to work in awkward, confined spaces and high locations.
- Must be able to perform related duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance and punctuality is required.
- Will be required to provide acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Registry checks
