Heavy Equipment Operator

Job description
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be primarily responsible for operating equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, compaction equipment, forklifts and front-end loaders.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Operate equipment such as excavator, loader, bulldozer, compaction equipment, rock truck
- Experience in trenching, Demolition, Excavating and grading
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks as required
- Secure special attachments to equipment as required
- Conduct daily pre-operational checks on equipment
- Provide safe, prompt, and efficient support to assigned projects
- Ensure that all activities are carried out with due regard to personal safety, the safety of others and in line with Company policies and procedures
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to Foreman
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and as the need arises perform minor repairs to equipment.
- Attend safety meetings and ensures all tasks are always completed in a safe and professional manner.
- Must be able to follow direction and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Use Company technology for invoicing and time and attendance.
- Properly document all Company, Federal, Provincial and Customer paperwork as required by law and/or established policy in a clear and legible manner.
**Knowledge, Skills and Competencies**:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator
- On Track/ Hi rail experience an asset
- Knowledge of operation of Excavators
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance
- Valid class G drivers’ license and clean drivers abstract AZ or DZ would be an asset
- Strong work ethic, Team Player, willing to pitch in and help in other fascists of the company
- Have a professional, courteous and respectful attitude towards all customers, suppliers, and all employees
- Able to work in various working conditions (outdoor, off-site locations, etc.)
- Occasional Out of town work required.
- CROR qualified would be an asset
- Occasional Weekend or Night shift required
- Available for Emergency Work
- Able to meet deadlines and understands sense of urgency in certain situations
- Will be required to successfully complete pre-employment screening, which includes driver’s abstract review and drug and alcohol test and criminal background check.
License/Certification:
- G License (required)
