The External Research Manager oversees current R&D radiopharmaceutical projects and provides expert knowledge to help evaluate future projects. The External Research Manager’s leadership activities include development and tracking of project plans and timelines, provision of technical oversight, and communication of progress to collaborators, granting agencies, stakeholders and senior management. Additionally, the External Research Manager tracks and reports emerging trends in the field of radioisotopes and medical imaging, performs literature searches and works with senior management to identify new R&D and funding opportunities to ensure the CPDC is a leader in the development of new nuclear medicine technologies.

The External Research Manager must be goal oriented and show their ability to work independently and timely on assigned tasks, while working cooperatively with the entire team on overall corporate goals.

Fluency in French and English is an asset.

**Key Accountabilities**
- **Research and Development Management and Process Leadership: - 65%**
- To provide expertise in the field of radiopharmaceutical science to senior management and other members of the team.
- Responsible for being well versed in advanced radiopharmaceutical sciences along with R&D processes and relevant Canadian grants/funding streams
- Project management of Canadian grants including provincial OICR and federal Industry, Science and Innovation Department funded R&D programs
- Provide scientific expertise, and process knowledge, including strategic and operational planning, production efficiency, trouble-shooting, and process improvements.
- Develops, tracks and drives plans to transfer R&D projects from the bench top to completion of preclinical studies in support of regulatory filings.
- Conducts background intellectual property and patent searches.
- Reviews and briefs senior management on external competition to programs that the company is involved in
- Prepares development plans for programs outlining phase 1 enabling studies (in vitro and in vivo studies), budgets, timelines, and required regulatory work for the clinical translation of R&D assets.
- Reports status and progress of programs to stakeholders, senior management, and board of directors through regular meetings.
- Works closely with senior management to deliver program updates and future plans to both the board and funding agencies in monthly, quarterly, and yearly presentations and reporting.
- Coordinates and maintains strong relationships with external collaborators and CMOs for discovery, development and preclinical studies including biodistribution, imaging, and toxicology studies, and GMP manufacturing activities.
- Supports collaborators by analyzing and solving issues that arise in the programs.
- Works independently and drives goals and deliverables to meet timelines.

- Senior management and other team members will rely upon the External Research Manager’s expertise and advanced knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, therefore it is integral that the External Research Manager maintains their current knowledge of the radioisotope and nuclear industry, including new developments, publications, and trends, through literature, attending conferences and symposiums and news release searches.
- Works with senior management to drive new R&D programs by identifying new developments in the field of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Identifies emerging targets, companies, scientific innovations and areas of interest in the radiopharmaceuticals industry.
- Communicates all findings to senior management through regular summaries and reports.
- Presents abstracts, technical papers and presentations at conferences and annual meetings.

- Ensures good scientific practices and the highest Quality standards are adhered to for all activities.
- **Health and Safety: - 5%**
- Ensures compliance with Health and Safety policies, procedures and regulations at all times.

**Scope**

The External Research Manager is an individual contributor that works in both an internal and external matrix environment to manage multiple programs and supports various collaborative groups that are in partnership with the organization

**Education and Experience**
- Graduate degree in, radiochemistry, or a closely related field. Ph.D. preferred.
- Requires 2-5 years of relevant experience in the field of radiochemistry or preclinical drug discovery.
- Fluently bilingual in French and English is an asset.
- Experience managing programs is an asset.

Pay: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
