**About the Opportunity**

Reporting to the Health Service Manager, Valley Hospice, the Clinical Practice Leader brings leadership to the delivery of patient care and practice development for Valley Hospice and the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program. This position leads from a platform of quality improvement and safety in support of a broad spectrum of collaborative practice development approaches, which embody the standards of clinical practice. The Clinical Practice Leader will demonstrate competencies of leadership, teaching & research, professional practice, quality improvement and caring.

**About You**

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Bachelor Degree in Nursing required
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN)
- Minimum five (5) years clinical nursing experience in a Hospice or a Palliative Care setting (acute care and/or community based) required
- Minimum three (3) years medical nursing experience preferred
- Supervisory/management experience an asset
- Leadership Development Training an asset (e.g. LEADS offered through NS Health; Adult Education Course)
- Clinical Preceptor Workshop required or willingness to complete within one year of hire
- Certification in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing (CHPCN) required, or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire
- Heart & Stroke BCLS certification required
- Experience as a preceptor, mentor, and leader within a care team environment an asset

- Demonstrated knowledge of Clinical Nursing Practice, with an integrated focus on safety, quality care and clinical excellence.
- Demonstrated effective decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a pressure situation required.
- Demonstrated accountability and responsibility, planning, organization, and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate interpersonal effectiveness and, to facilitate team meetings as required
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills including MS Office programs, Meditech, NS Health Palliative Care Database required and, the ability to acquire additional skills as necessary (e.g. SEAscape)
- Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as the ability to tolerate high stress levels; adaptable to flexible and variable work hours; travelling within the Western Zone as necessary.
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

- Travel to other sites will be required, approximately 10%

**Compensation and Incentives**

$41.78 - $51.21 Hourly

$53.00 with 25 years experience
