**About Our Opportunity**:
The Museum of Natural History is responsible for the collecting and recording of artifacts of cultural significance to Nova Scotia as well as promoting Nova Scotia's natural landscape. Here at the Museum, we house collections on Archeology, Ethnology, Mammals, Marine life and more.

**Primary Accountabilities**:

- As the Naturalist Interpreter you will assist in the delivery and development of interpretive programs that enhance the visitor experience at the Museum of Natural History and support its policies, plans, interpretive themes and collections. These programs include discovery stations, education programs, demonstrations, presentations and conversational interpretation, gallery tours, films, travelling exhibition programs, workshops, field trips and special events.
- As a Naturalist you are responsible for maintaining the Museum's collection of live plants and animals and ensuring that care and handling policies and procedures are followed. You will respond to public enquiries and requests for natural history information such as specimen identification. You will assist in promoting the Museum's interpretive products and services and foster collaborative partnerships both inside and outside government.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Knowledge of enquiry-based learning and experience working within a visitor-centered museum environment are essential to this position.
- Demonstrated natural history interpretation experience in a museum or outdoor education environment.
- Superior communication and presentation (both oral and written) skills and proven ability to deliver, develop and research interpretive programs in a museum or informal learning environment.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic, creative team that includes external partners.
- Experience with Word processing (Word/Word Perfect) and the internet are required.
- Proficiency in French language is considered an asset.
- Valid NS drivers license is considered an asset.
- Experience with animal care (reptiles and amphibians) is an asset.

**Working Conditions**:

**Salary Range**: $1,493.64 - $1,625.82 Bi-Weekly
