Reporting to the Manager, Office of Communications, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), the Communications Advisor (Internal Media and Special Projects) is responsible for the planning and delivery of communication services and materials in support of the Faculty and University mission and priorities. The Advisor leads the annual planning and implementation of the Faculty’s primary internal communication media, as well as the creation of content for English and French audiences. This position also shares responsibility for priority projects that emerge, requiring communications support.

Primary Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Manager, Office of Communications, identify communication opportunities and needs to promote the Faculty’s tripartite vision, mission, values and excellence, as well as its priorities, members and achievements.- Develop and implement the annual plan, calendar and processes to promote the above internally, while also considering the McGill academic health network and external audiences, e.g., media and the general public.- Provide professional expertise, advice and creative solutions to the Faculty Communications Office team and community, as well as to Faculty partner-clients with whom we work.- Create/Coordinate the development of written and visual content, in English and French, to share across Faculty media, e.g., e-newsletter, e-broadcast channels, social media, plasma screens and website, as well as University and external media; ensure all is aligned with Faculty and University brand, quality and style guidelines.- Create targeted campaigns in support of Faculty priorities, ensuring each is shared across all appropriate media channels; lead/co-lead the Communications Office editorial board meetings.- Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities- Work closely with the Faculty’s Communications team and community to ensure coherence and to plan campaigns and content, brainstorm, identify opportunities and continually raise the bar.- Liaise with internal McGill colleagues and external suppliers for additional support, as needed, e.g., writing, translation, graphics, photography, audio-visual.- Lead/Co-lead/Support special projects in support of Faculty priorities that emerge and that require communications expertise and services.
