**Responsibilities**:
- Plans, develops, and coordinates virtual and in-person social and recreational programs for older adults who are socially isolated and/or experience other barriers to participating in city programs
- Refers participants experiencing health or social challenges to a variety of support options, ranging from self-help to formal services, initiates referral connections as appropriate.
- Develops and implements health and wellbeing education sessions and workshops that respond to the needs and interests of older adults in the community
- Engages with program participants to determine programming needs and interests and integrates these into program plans
- Coordinates the work of Program Aides and Instructors, and assists in providing guidance, coaching and support
- Responsible for evaluation of programs and activities, and timely collection of statistical information
- Interviews, selects, trains, recognizes, and supports program volunteers and placement students as required
- Develops and provides ongoing coordination and support to the dementia friendly Golf Fore Life Program
- Develops sessional program templates for entry on Active Net and monitors registration numbers
- In consultation with Supervisor Older Adult Services, develops partnerships with other community support service agencies to develop collaborative programming
- Delivers programming in the absence of Program Aides and instructors

**Requirements**:
- Must have a 2-year diploma or 2-year specialized post-secondary program in recreation, gerontology, or other related fields
- Must have 2-4 years experience in working with persons living with dementia and older adults in a programming capacity including an on-the-job period of adjustment
- Current first aid and CPR-C certification
- Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of recreation in order to develop programming
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of inclusive program principles in order to recommend adaptations to programming or create new programs as appropriate
- Understanding of the various referral options and referral processes for older adults requiring additional community supports including external agencies, external programs, and municipal services
- Skilled in the use of a personal computer using software packages such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
- Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
