Basketball Instructor

Employment Period: April 5, 2023- June 21, 2023 with possibility of extension

Location: Gym at Glencairn Church (725 Erinbrook Drive, Kitchener)

Time: Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 pm

The Huron Community Association offers a variety of different activities for Adults and youth of all ages.

The HCA is looking for staff who are organized, motivated to participate, and skilled at being asset builders for children and youth. You may be asked to also supervise additional volunteers.

Major Responsibilities:

- Plan and organize basketball activities, drills, and games for children ages 6-12.
- Coordinate child and youth centered programming and ensure that equipment and supplies are set-up.
- Provide coordination, support and leadership to the other program staff and volunteers
- Act as a positive role model for program staff, volunteers, and participants
- Implement positive and effective behaviour management strategies

Qualifications:

- Must possess relevant leadership, administration, supervision, communication, social development and positive behaviour management skills
- Knowledge of basketball and ability to teach skills required
- Must have current Standard First-Aid Certificate, or willing to obtain
- Police check required upon offer of employment
- Must have strong programming skills with a preferred variety of skills in leading sports to children
- Own transportation to the program location will be required

Recommended age: 18 years of age or older

**Salary**: $20.00 per hour

- Evening shift

**Experience**:

- coaching: 1 year (preferred)
- basketball: 3 years (preferred)
