**Accounting Technician**

**Newriver Professional Corporation (NPC)** is an Alberta-established public accounting firm which specializes on the preparation of SR&ED claims and other government and non-government incentive programs. NPC also specializes in full cycle accounting and tax services for start-ups, small and medium-sized companies and owner-managed businesses. We are looking for the right **Accounting Technician** to join our fast-paced office and being part of our great team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Providing monthly and annual bookkeeping services to clients
- Processing bi-weekly/ semi-monthly payroll for clients and preparing year-end payroll related forms (T4s)
- Preparing monthly and year-end journal entries
- Preparing and filing of GST returns (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Prepare working paper files for compilation engagements
- Prepare financial statements and tax returns (corporate and personal)
- Preparation of Personal and Corporate tax returns (T1 & T2)
- Collaborate with the other members of the team on client matters
- Maintaining regular contact with clients and taxation authorities (CRA and provincial government)
- Work independently and follow through on assignments and special projects with mínimal direction
- Perform other tasks as required

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- A post-secondary diploma or certificate in a relevant field (i.e. Bookkeeping, Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance) and 3+ years of experience in an Accounting Technician role
- Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills
- Strong working knowledge of PROFILE tax software
- Experience in public practice and/or property management is considered an asset
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong team-player attitude; needs to work well under pressure and be adaptable in the face of changing priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail and high standards for quality

**What we offer**
- Part-time position - avg. 20-24 hours/week (with the opportunity to become full-time in the future)
- Flexible work schedule within our regular business hours of Monday to Friday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm from September to June; possibility of July and August off (or reduced hours)
