Banquet Captain

The Banquet Captain is responsible for maintaining high service standards within the Banquet department. They lead the team in executing the setup and take down of events such as banquets, meetings, and weddings. Banquet Captains aim to create an amazing customer experience by making sure each guest is treated attentively and pleasantly, from the time they arrive to the time they depart.

**Responsibilities for this role include**:

- Ensuring the highest level of guest service from yourself and your team, following all Bellstar processes and standards
- Supervising and assisting with the setup of the event as per the BEO, including but not limited to, tables, chairs, linens, equipment, table setups, electronics, bars, and food stations
- Ensuring all event and public areas are clean and tidy
- Monitoring all events for any additional requirements
- Supervising and assisting in the food service, by serving plated food to guests and restocking
- Supervising and assisting in the takedown and clean-up of the event, ensuring everything is returned to it’s proper area
- Assisting in building, retaining, engaging, and empowering a strong service orientated team who contribute to a positive working environment
- Assisting in training new hires, providing performance feedback
- Addressing all guest requests in a timely and efficient manner
- Graciously handling all guest concerns in a timely manner, alerting the Manager and involving them when necessary
- Assisting with regular inventory counts as well as receiving and processing stock
- Assisting with cost control management such as breakage and loss as well as recommending events and ideas to reduce costs and/or increase revenue potential
- Complying with all legislative requirements and internal standards, policies, and procedures while upholding the company’s core values
- All other duties as required

**The “must haves”**:

- A passion for the tourism industry
- Required certifications to responsibly server alcohol (based on your province)
- Experience in the hospitality industry with a focus on food & beverage
- Positive and energetic personality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Great organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to repeatedly push, pull and lift up to 50lbs as well as stand, bend, twist and stretch for long periods of time
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Confident in striking up conversation and connecting with guests in a positive and upbeat manner
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

**The “nice to haves”**:

- 2+ years of banquet experience
- Basic food and beverage knowledge
