We currently have an exciting opportunity as a **Mechatronics** **Automation Technician reporting to the Engineering Manager** The **Mechatronics** **Automation Technician** will work in parallel with the Setup, Process, and Maintenance teams to prepare, adjust, and setup automation equipment, robots, and jigs used on the production floor.

**Principle Accountabilities**:

- Involved in the design, build, debugging and commissioning of automated equipment.
- Test and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision, and laser system in automated equipment.
- Troubleshoot and determine the root causes of current issues, identify potential future issues and continuous improvement opportunities, and implement solutions accordingly
- Evaluate the condition of new and damaged mechanical equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement.
- Assist with setup, changeover, and preventative maintenance of automated equipment
- Assist with the design, build, programming, and preventative maintenance of robot EOAT’s
- Plan assigned work in an efficient method to minimize machine downtime while ensuring line productively, and employee safety is maintained.
- Perform regular housekeeping duties in work area and automated equipment.
- Perform periodically PLC and program backup.
- Maintain equipment documentation updates.
- Have knowledge of CSA, OSHA, and Electrical Safety Code.
- Work within Quality standards, procedures, and requirements.
- Attend formal professional development seminars, conferences, and training classes as needed.
- Must be willing to work all shifts.

Additional duties as required.

**Knowledge & Skill Requirement**:

- Successful completion of Post-Secondary education in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or similar field 2- or 3-year diploma.
- Digital literacy including Office suite, Word, Excel.
- Experience in robot programming preferred.
- Knowledge of servos, sensors, smart actuators, etc. would be an asset.
- Knowledge of injection moulding machines and process would be an asset.
- Experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modifications across various platforms (Omron Sysmac using CX Programmer, Allen Bradley, SLC500, MicroLogix, CompactLogix, and Control Logix using Rslinx, RsLogix 500, RsLogix 5000, and Safety PLC’s).
- Technical document literacy (schematics, prints, pneumatic diagrams)
- Ability to follow written instructions.
- Basic electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic troubleshooting ability.
- Self-motivated and self-directing.
- Ability to work well with other departments is a must.
- Strong communication skills.
