Job Summary
The Associate Curator of Exhibitions is responsible for the curation, development, and implementation of exhibitions in support of the mandate and functions of the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (IRSHDC). This position plays a vital role in completing existing exhibition projects, as well as initiating new exhibitions, through the interpretation of research, collections, and educational goals into public-facing digital and physical displays.
Acknowledging the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre's commitment to collaborating with residential school Survivors, Indigenous communities and facilitating Indigenous-led access to collections, the Curator focuses on the development of exhibitions that share Indigenous knowledges, acknowledge Indigenous data sovereignty and respectful use of Survivors' testimonies.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Executive Director or designate. Works closely and in collaboration with the Executive Director, Project Manager, collections team, research team, as well as education and engagement staff. This position takes a lead role in engaging with Indigenous communities and partners, interested parties, and other project contractors within the context of exhibition development and implementation.
