The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds. With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management.

The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario. With 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed, the NPCA manages lands that are held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education. These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.

**The Opportunity**

As a Communications & Marketing Specialist with the NPCA, you will have an opportunity to directly contribute to this organizational vision through your demonstrated expertise and experience in corporate communications, media relations, digital media and marketing and website administration. As part of a dynamic and collaborative team you will assist in the development and delivery of communications, marketing and engagement programs and initiatives that support the Conservation Authorities’ strategic plan, as well as its Provincial mandate, regulations and policies.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Providing communications and marketing support to Conservation Areas, including promotion of Conservation Area programs, services, and events Programs & Services
- Supporting and executing Communications and Marketing Strategies both internally and externally
- Writing stories, producing press releases, and creating social media marketing campaigns around various projects, initiatives and operational needs
- Preparing and implementing communications campaigns including researching, writing and editing of products
- Providing marketing and promotion support for NPCA events and projects, including managing social media presence
- Liaising with reporters, social media influencers and the public
- Identifying opportunities for positive and proactive media coverage and facilitating content research, execution and release of information to targeted audiences
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to address marketing product needs in a timely and organized manner with strong attention to detail and an eye on brand management

**What You Bring**
- Degree or Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related discipline
- 3 years’ professional experience in public relations, issues management and/or media relations
- Proven experience creating and successfully attaining earned media
- Proven experience successfully composing and executing media releases and other supporting communications and media relations products (backgrounders, fact sheets etc.)
- Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Experience in digital marketing and social media strategies
- Event planning experience and photography skills are also definite assets for this role
