Our responsibilities include working with partners in law enforcement, justice, health and social services for a fair and accessible justice system that upholds rule of law while supporting the needs of individuals. We are responsible for the custody and supervision of adults and young persons under correctional authority, as well as the facilitation of rehabilitation. In collaboration with municipalities, Metis Settlements and First Nations, we lead disaster preparation, mitigation, response and recovery to increase individual and community resilience.

The Victims of Crime Assistance Program is a multi-faceted program which provides a variety of victim supports and services to best meet the ever changing and diverse needs of victims of crime. Together will multiple partnering agencies the program strives to ensure victims are supported while navigating a complex criminal justice system. Supports include, but are not limited to: emergency assistance, counselling, reimbursement for specified court attendance related expenses, and several other services some currently in place, and others in development or being enhanced based on evolving victim needs.

**Salary**: $3,076.28 to $3,913.51 bi-weekly ($80,290 - $102,142/year)

**Role Responsibilities**:
Your exceptional communication, organizational, teamwork, and customer service skills will an asset to this fast-paced and dynamic front line service delivery program.

Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties:

- Your strong leadership abilities will enable you to guide, support and contribute to a team of professional medical staff to ensure excellence in service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Your systematic reasoning will enable you to manage and review assigned casework to ensure timely and medically appropriate services and supports are provided to victims of crime, and collaborate with other medical staff in relation to complex victimization scenarios.
- Your troubleshooting skills will enable you to solve issues as they arise.
- Your keen eye for detail and ability to analyze and interpret complex medical information is paramount in daily medical adjudication
- Your sound medical knowledge of anatomy and physiology, etiology of health and disease processes, complications of injuries and disease processes, traumatic psychological conditions, treatment modalities and their side effects, and standard outcomes and recovery periods for a variety of injuries, medical conditions and treatments, will enable you to work cooperatively with victims of crime, medical providers and stakeholder groups.
- Your technical skills using systems and platforms (M365, MSOffice, etc.) will aid in championing the use of technology to advance program services delivery.
- Your people and collaboration skills will enable you to work with other members of the VAP team to operationalize system solutions (e.g. case management systems) for program service delivery.
- Your conflict resolution skills will enable you to deescalate conversations with vulnerable populations

As a professional member of the team, this position will inform program opportunities for improvement, and assist with developing enhancements to the programs suite of services. This position is key to ensuring program enhancements are sustainable and effectively meet ever changing diverse victim needs.
- Have experience assessing complex medical information to determine etiology, extent and severity of injuries and supporting significantly injured individuals
- Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to chart interpretation and injury assessment
- Functions independently and contributes collaboratively and effectively within a team environment with mínimal supervision and a high degree of personal accountability and professionalism.
- Possesses excellent organizational and conflict resolution skills.
- Is capable of managing business deliverables within changing timelines and with the ability to adapt, prioritize, and coordinate a team.
- Has awareness and sensitivity to political issues and is able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Will demonstrate excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and organize conflicting priorities with competing deadlines.
