**What you can expect from this position**:
Working with the Manager, Structural Integrity, this role organizes and prioritizes the work program for the Structural Maintenance staff including support of their operational and development activities. In addition, the role will initiate and lead the contracting-out of selected Structural activities and projects.

**As a Specialist, Structural, you will**:

- Prioritize, schedule and monitor the completion of repair, project and preventive maintenance work programs using a combination of in-house resources and outside contractors
- Assist in preparing and controlling the section’s annual operating budget
- Maintain updated record plan drawings, shop records, manuals and procedures
- Ensure occupational health, safety and fire regulations are observed and practiced
- Receive and respond to maintenance and repair requests from airport partners and tenants
- Maintain an accurate record of facilities and equipment inventory assigned to the section and preparing receipt and write-off documentation as required
- Prepare requisitions for the acquisition of goods, materials and services and authorize same within delegated financial signing authorities
- Provide input to the Manager on developing performance criteria and evaluating progress and results for the sections programs and staff
- Assist with identifying skill requirements, technical testing, development and implementation of training and onboarding for structural staff
- Maintain, implement and improve work programs to enhance the operational use and life expectancy of facilities and equipment
- Identify the requirement to retain outside contractors to undertake maintenance, repair and project work
- Inspect the work of contractors while in progress and upon completion and directing the correction of any deficiencies
- Evaluate the relative economic and operational merits of in-house versus contracted maintenance and make appropriate recommendations to management.
- Provide input to develop contract specifications, requirements bids received and recommending parties for contract award
- Support the structural restoration program to ensure the long-term serviceability and reliability of facilities and equipment inventory

**This is the role for you, if you have**:

- Certificate of Qualification 403A - General Carpenter
- 3-5+ years’ experience working in a construction/maintenance industry
- A valid Ontario 'G' class driver's license
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
- The ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

**Knowledge and skills you bring, that set you up for success**:

- Knowledge/experience in a broad spectrum of carpentry/construction practices, codes, standards, theories and procedures, and sufficient knowledge of the other trades to represent a senior level of direction to all trades, during absences and off shift hours
- Knowledge/experience of developing training programs and training staff
- Knowledge/experience of coordinating and assigning work to contractors and oversight of awarded contracts
- Knowledge of work planning, diagnoses and inspections
- Knowledge of records management and other administrative practices and procedures including Maximo EAM reporting.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
