We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural Design Professional to join our Toronto studio. This is an exciting opportunity for you to work on some of the most complex and interesting buildings around the world.

Job Description

As a Senior Structural Design Professional, your primary responsibility will be to lead specialist structural engineering design projects from inception to practical completion across all sectors. You will gain the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects in over 50 countries, including workplace, residential, life science, education, retail, hotels, hospitality, sports, and leisure.

You will produce detailed designs that meet with design and construction programmes, liaise with other disciplines, and ensure the coordination of design and detailing work appropriate to the project.

Detailed Responsibilities
  • Carry out structural surveys of building/desk studies and provide initial advice on any issues that may arise
  • Prepare conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes with support of the wider team
  • Prepare detailed design calculations to the National Building Code of Canada and relevant design guidance notes using relevant 3D software packages
  • Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes
  • Respond to client requests for information
  • Support the production of construction information for issue to contractors
  • Visit sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to contractors
  • Provide day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the office
  • Attend team meetings with both internal and external disciplines
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful as a Senior Structural Design Professional, you will have a good degree in Engineering and experience in structural design in concrete, steel, and timber structures. You will also have experience working with the National Building Code of Canada and other local design guidance.

Other requirements include:

  • A strong analytical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles combined with practical understanding of buildings and construction
  • A desire to work constructively in a team, finding holistic building design solutions
  • A good understanding of multidisciplinary requirements into coordinated solutions
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of design and analysis programs
  • An understanding of health and safety regulations and designer's responsibilities
Competitive Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary, ranging between $80,000 and $120,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide a range of benefits, including a vibrant social calendar, company-funded events, and activities, and many employee benefits.
