**PURCHASING AGENT**

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and qualified Purchasing Agent with experience purchasing a variety of commercially available goods and services to meet the requirements of BC Ferries.

The incumbent will be responsible for purchasing a variety of commercially available goods and services for BC Ferries in a prudent, efficient and cost-effective manner for our fleet of vessels and other user departments, and will perform the following: reviewing, checking, analyzing and pricing requisitions for a wide variety of goods and services; developing, preparing, issuing and awarding contracts including negotiating contract terms; preparing, issuing and opening formal bids, preparing bid summary reports and performing additional duties as required.

You hold a Supply Chain Association of Canada (SCMP) Designation, or equivalent, with 6 years’ experience in the purchasing and materials management field with computerized MRP/ERP experience. You also have considerable knowledge relating to negotiations, inventory management, accounting, logistics and organization skills.
