Maintenance Technician (M2)

**Location**: ALS Geochemistry, North Vancouver

**Reports to**: Facilities Manager

**About the Position**: This role will consist primarily of assisting in repairs and maintenance to the building and the property.

Specific Responsibilities
- Assist trades and contractors;
- Assist senior facilities staff with maintenance work as required;
- Property maintenance including dumping garbage and maintaining both indoor and outdoor areas as required;
- Operate a forklift to dump garbage, move pallets, etc.;
- Purchase and transport of building materials and maintenance supplies;
- Ability to complete minor building repairs such as painting, basic carpentry and basic plumbing etc.;
- Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment i.e. changing air and water filters, cleaning scrubber nozzles, and greasing bearings;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
- Experience with performing general repairs.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Valid full Provincial drivers licence;
- Forklift certificate or experience will be considered an asset (full training will be provided);
**Physical Demands**:

- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time;
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
- Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and working with machines;
- Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
- Please note that ALS Geochemistry operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
