**Summary**:
Westcoast Family Centers Society (‘Westcoast’) is looking to add a** full-time 35-hour temporary Family Navigator for 1 year **to our team starting **November 2023 till November 2024 in Port Coquitlam** The Family Navigator will facilitate programs for families with children aged 0-6-years of age and facilitating Nobody’s Perfect Parenting groups. The Family Navigator will link parents to community resources and provide individualized support.

The Family Navigator will travel to families’ homes and within their community to assist in connecting them to resources including health, early intervention, mental health, parenting programs, libraries, recreation, and childcare services.

The Family Navigator will provide education and support to parents with children 0-6 years of age to promotes well-being. They will provide group and outreach services that promotes positive outcomes for families with children 6 years and under. The Family Navigator will connect and build relationships with parents, caregivers, children, and collaterals. They will be a team player who collaborates in developing and implementing quality programming in community. They will have knowledge of community resources that support families with acute or chronic vulnerabilities, including children with chronic health conditions, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, complex developmental behavioral conditions, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and/or mental health concerns.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Plans, prepares, and conducts one-to-one support, outreach services, and facilitate group session(s) to promote healthy child development for families with children ages 0-6 in the Tri-Cities
- Assesses, screens, refers, and links individuals to internal and community resources as needed.
- Connect with families at locations such as local libraries, immunization clinics, outdoor community events, as well as social media online.
- Provides participant-based activities that include public education / awareness campaigns, workshops, presentations, and events that address issues of concern to children and families.
- Develop and provide preventative programs and services for at-risk families with respect to issues of domestic violence, abuse, and family healing.
- Provides interventions, navigation to community services, and support to individuals experiencing crisis.
- Responds promptly to families experiencing crisis, such as ensuring access to concrete needs
- Acts as point of contact for referral enquiries, participant registration, program information.
- Seeks, secures, and mobilizes resources/partnerships/community assets for social innovation opportunities.
- Attends and actively participates in community round table discussions with partners and other community resources in the Tri-Cities.
- Identifies and provides opportunities that are welcoming to families from varying demographic backgrounds (i.e., age, socio
- economic, disability, etc.)
- Maintains current, accurate and confidential records.
- Works in collaboration with early years team.
- Participates in quarterly program planning with Family Navigation team and supervisor.
- Performs other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent in Social Service or Education fields
- (1) one-year experience working with children and families
- Trained in Nobody’s Perfect Parenting
- Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development
- Demonstrated proficiency in group facilitation with parents and children, training in Mother Goose an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in collaborative activities such as program planning and implementation.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to build and nurture strong working relationships with colleagues and collaterals
- Indigenous cultural safety training is an asset
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position (e.g., carrying babies or materials)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR & AED Level C certificate and Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record and use of own vehicle.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Proficient knowledge of Computer operating systems (MS Word, Excel, Office, Customer Management Systems.
