**About the position**: Reporting to the Director, People, Culture, and Support Services, the Manager, Internal Communications and Community Engagement is responsible for anticipating and planning for internal communications needs and trends, administering and evaluating assigned internal communications services, and building positive relationships with community partners. Working closely with the Leadership Team, the Manager establishes organization messages, internal communications priorities, and community relationships.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Leads the development of an overall internal communications strategy to ensure employees are kept informed and motivated.
- Acts as a partner with the Leadership Team to develop and increase internal communications.
- Develops internal communications messaging as necessary.
- Coordinates and facilitates internal promotion and branding of BCHU.
- Responsible for development of operational plans, deliverables, reporting mechanisms, and program budget.
- Ensures compliance with BCHU policies and all legislative requirements.
- Builds positive relationships across the organization and with external partners/agencies.
- Develops and implements detailed plans and recommends strategies to build BCHU’s relationship with community partners.
- Participates in community tables as appropriate.
- Promotes positive work environments by role modelling professional behaviour, promoting teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration, addressing workplace conflict, and effectively managing change initiatives.
- Operates at the FOI Coordinator and Privacy lead for all privacy reporting and requests.

**Qualifications**:

- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant professional discipline including Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related degree in a relevant professional discipline, with a minimum five (5) years’ work-related supervisory/management experience in a unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of both education and experience.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Management skills including knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles and practices and relevant employment legislation.
- Ability to influence others and establish credibility with all levels of the organization and be a catalyst for positive change.
- Effective critical thinking, analytical decision making, problem-resolution skills and the ability to distil complex information into clear, concise messages.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and demands in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability and willingness to go above and beyond to support the needs of the organization (ex. on-call hours).
- Leadership skills including customer focused, ensuring accountability, fostering collaborative relationships, cultivating engagement to drive vision and purpose, and establishing and maintaining trust.
- Required to have full COVID-19 immunization and are able to provide evidence of status.

Salary range: $104,158.60 to $120,666.00 annually. OMERS pension and a comprehensive Health and Dental benefits package.
